Inee Language
Our Story
I created this website as a final project for my Native American Studies course “Learning Indigenous Language”. Since I had multiple recordings of my grandpas speaking the language, I thought I should share my knowledge to help other beginner learners learn! However, as the course is ending, I plan to continue updating the website with more knowledge I learn along the way.
The goal of this website is to learn and gain knowledge! We are all learners and nowhere near experts, so it's okay to make mistakes! This is a community-based platform! If you’re interested, please follow along on our journey of learning Apache! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments!
I couldn’t have done this work without Shíchoo’s (my grandpas) John Dawson and Earl Sisto. I am so thankful to have them in my life, as they have taught me everything regarding the Apache culture!

Why you should learn your Indigenous language
Learning the language of our ancestors is crucial! We must preserve our language to carry the knowledge and traditions that our ancestors embedded in us. As time continues, many Indigenous communities face high language dormancy due to language suppression. Learning your language is significant in encouraging future generations to carry our knowledge as they are our seven generations.
